Blair asked to withdraw Iraq troops
Iraq-UK, Politics, 9/16/2005

UK's Prime Minister Tony Blair was under renewed pressure to withdraw British troops from Iraq from almost 100 public figures, describing the war as an "unmitigated disaster," IRNA reported today. A personal letter signed by celebrities, academics, musicians, MPs and activists was handed in Blair's office by British actress Julie Christie, saying that many soldiers, who did not want to serve in Iraq, had been killed, wounded or maimed.

The letter comes ahead of Stop the War Coalition (STWC) holding a national Peace and Liberty march in London on the eve of the ruling Labor Party holding its annual conference on September 24.
