Norway withdraws from Iraq, following election of new leadership
Iraq-Norway, Politics, 9/16/2005

Norway's labor party leader on Thursday notified the American President George W. Bush that Norway will withdraw its forces from Iraq. Norway did not approve of the invasion of the coalition forces led by the USA of Iraq, considering that the UN did not issue an authorization to this effect, but Norway sent 20 soldiers to join the British, Polish and the NATO forces after the USA announced the end of the war.

Bush had telephoned the Norwegian leader over winning the parliamentary elections and discussed means of "fighting terrorism", and the leftist leader notified him on Norway's decision to withdraw its forces from Iraq.
