British war crimes lawyer: Israeli ambassador helped Israeli general escape the law
Israel-UK, Politics, 9/15/2005
British lawyer in charge of bringing to justice a retired Israeli general for committing war crimes against the Palestinians called to strip immunity of the Israeli ambassador and his staff in London to unveil how the legal order to arrest the Israeli General reached the Israeli embassy that helped hide the Israeli general from British law.
The Kuwaiti newspaper al-Rai al-Aam quoted the British ambassador today as saying an order was presented to the British foreign office to demand striping diplomatic immunity of the Israeli embassy staff so as to allow the British police to interrogate them.
The lawyer added that in case the Israeli foreign office failed to deprive its embassy staff from immunity, then it must be demanded to pullout its involved staff in the scandal to return them to Israel.
"My office has asked to open full investigation to know the causes that prevented from allowing the British police to mount into the Israeli airplane at London airport, and execute the order of arresting Doron al-Mog, who fortified himself inside it, while Israeli officials were permitted to climb into the jet," the British lawyer Daniel Mamouvze said.
Meantime, former Israeli chief of staff Moshe Yaalon stepped back from lecturing in Britain next week because of the lawsuit against him and the current chief of staff Dani Heltous of committing war crimes in the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
