Syrian- Omani cooperation relations
Syria-Oman, Economics, 9/13/2005

Omani Minister of Economy, Ahmad Bin Abdul Nabi Makki, stressed importance of boosting existing relations between his country and Syria, particularly in the economic and trade fields.

Makki, who is to co-chair his country's delegation to the Syrian-Omani Ministerial Committee, told SANA in an arrival statement at Damascus that the agenda of meetings includes a study on trade exchange, signing of agreements and memos of understanding on land and sea transportation, avoiding double taxations and development of investments between the two sides.

For his part, Minister of Economy Dr. Amer Hosni Lutfi, who received Makki at the airport, said there is a need for signing agreements that facilitate movement of businessmen between the two states, setting up joint exhibitions in each other's country to enhance trade exchanges.

Lutfi called for benefiting from the facilities offered by the Arab Greater Free Trade Zone, noting that Syria and Oman are member-states to this agreement.
