Arab reaction to the Israeli pullback from Gaza
Regional-Palestine, Politics, 9/13/2005

A United Arab Emirates Newspaper warned on Monday that the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip would remain imperfect as long as the Palestinian sovereignty is not complete by air, sea and land.

Al-Khalij paper called in a article, "those hurrying to normalize ties with Israel to be patient, and reject to be subjugate to embezzlement and rewarding the terrorist head of the Israeli government Ariel Sharon," stressing that "Israel was practicing under a U.S. cover seduction and trickery, to induce Arabs to the normalization abyss, at a time the Israeli government was dedicating to aggressive and racist inclinations against the Arabs."

The daily pointed out that "Sharon's government wanted normalization without any price or a peace a just and comprehensive process" warning against the stick and carrot approach to gain concessions.

Meantime, Egypt called the international quartet to boost efforts aimed at enhancing the Palestinian Authority to ensure its control over Gaza Strip and guarantee the movement of Palestinians between Egypt and the Strip and the Strip and the West Bank.

An official Egyptian diplomat was quoted by the Middle East News Agency MENA as saying Egypt is making contacts with the so-called Quartet countries group in light of the meeting scheduled to be held this month on the margin of the 60th session of the United Nations General Assembly meeting.

"The aim of the meeting is to implement full Israeli pullback from Gaza with all its demands, in addition to starting discussions of the permanent status between the Palestinians and the Israelis," the source said.

On the other hand, an official spokesperson of the Egyptian presidency denied today what was circulated by news agencies that the Egyptian border guards caused the killing of a Palestinian and injuring another on the Egyptian-Palestinian borders at Rafah crossing point.
