Iraqi parliamentarian procession attacked

In the context of other field developments in Iraq, the Iraqi ministry of interior announced the killing of one person and injuring of others in an attack targeting the procession of Ahmad al-Safi, member of the Iraqi parliament and the representative of the Shiite religious figure, Ayatullah Ali al-Seistani in Karbala.

The Seistani office in Najaf confirmed that the attack took place against al-Safi protection guards who was not in the procession.

In Karkouk, northern Iraq, Iraqi security sources announced the killing of one Kurdish fighters and two members of the Iraqi police in Karkouk in clashes with gunmen and an attack in the city which is situated north of Iraq.

In Karradah quarters in the center of Baghdad, one bomb went off implanted in the way of one American vehicle on Monday morning. No casualties nor victims were reported.

Meantime, the American consulate in Basra, southern Iraq, was exposed to an attack by missiles on Monday at dawn. Four missiles of 107 mm caliber fell on the building which includes the American and British consulates. This complex in the past was one of the palaces for the toppled Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. No losses were reported.
