Lebanese officials call to strengthen internal front
Lebanon, Politics, 9/12/2005

Head of Lebanese Najada Party Mustafa Hakim on Sunday warned against hostile plots which target distinguished relations with Syria who offered support to Lebanese resistance which defeated the Israeli occupation.

"Pressure and conspiracies Lebanon is exposed to are part of foreign plans and scenarios that target the resistance and make the Lebanese accept the 'Greater Middle Eastern Project'," Hakim said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Deputy Leader of the Supreme Shiite Islamic Council Sheikh Abdulamir Kabalan warned against foreign projects that target Lebanese unity and stability.

"We should be united and promote the national and political discourse to a level that asserts solidarity and unity because the unity of Lebanese stance is a national need to save the country from political and economic problems," Kabalan added.

Meantime, Lebanese Minister of Water and Energy warned Sunday against the foreign schemes targeting Lebanese resistance as well as Lebanon's role and belonging.

"The Lebanese resistance constitutes a future guarantee for Lebanon's identity and sovereignty," minister Mohammed Fniesh said in a statement.

The minister clarified that Lebanese people realize very well that Israel is trying hard to get rid of the resistance, "but we shouldn't let that happen," he added. Fneish reiterated rejection of any foreign interference in the Lebanese internal affairs.
