Sunnis seek to desolve the Iraqi parliament

At a time when the US played down the importance of the call made by the Muslim Scholars Commission in Iraq, the largest Sunni commission in the country, to desolve the Iraqi parliament, in protest on the draft constitution, noting that he Iraqi voters are the ones who will decide this issue.
The spokesman for the US Department Of State Sean McCormack said that since the elections of January, some one million persons registered on executive lists, noting that this is a strong signal on the desire of the Iraqis to take part in the political life.
Earlier the commission threatened to call for desolving the parliament and accused it of perpetuating a draft constitution that justifies the existence of occupation and division of the country.
In another development, the Iraqi President Jalal al-Talibani headed on Friday to Washington in an official visit during which he will hold talks with the American President George W. Bush. The two presidents will hold vast talks on the security and political situation in Iraq, especially concerning the Iraqi constitution and the referendum due to be in October.
Meantime in Washington, the US former secretary of state Colin Powell said on Thursday said that his speech in 2003 before the United Nations on the Iraqi mass destruction weapons was a "shame" for his reputation.
In an interview with CNN Powel said that Iit was a shame because he was the one who presented this debate in the name of the USA, and this will be always a painful matter for him.
