Tishrin: Israel's withdrawal from Gaza due to Palestinian resistance: Qaddoumi

Chairman of the Political Department at the Palestinian Liberation Organization Farouk al-Qaddoumi has said "the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza was because of the Palestinian resistance," asserting that the resistance is a main factor in any forthcoming settlement.

In a statement to Tishrin daily published Thursday, Qaddoumi added that withdrawal from Gaza was not the end, calling the international parties that are concerned in achieving peace in the region to take into consideration the balance of interest, and to put pressure on Israel.

Qaddoumi also stressed that the racial separation wall that Israel is building in the occupied Palestinian territories is illegal calling for eliminating it.

He concluded by saying that the "Palestinian steadfastness in facing the Israeli occupation brutal practices is an important and main factor in liberating the occupied territories."
