Mubarak orders military airlift to Americans stricken by Hurricane Katrina

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, ordered on Tuesday the launching of a military airlift of emergency aid, including foodstuffs, medicine, blankets and water to the victims of Hurricane Katrina which killed thousands of US citizens and left tens of thousands homeless and injured.
The head of the US military cooperation office in Cairo conveyed the appreciation and thanks of President George W. Bush and the US administration to the Egyptian government for dispatching the assistance.
