Nazif: Future projects to boost Egyptian-Sudanese ties

The Higher Egyptian-Sudanese Committee will meet within weeks the implementation of the joint cooperation programs between the two states with emphasis on pharmaceuticals, agro-industries, education, mass media,building and river and railway means of transport as well as encouraging joint trade and investment.
An expanded Cabinet meeting was held Monday under Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif to review means to strengthen strategic and economic relations between Egypt and Sudan.
The meeting was attended by 11 ministers including Minister Omar Suleiman.
Nazif underlined the importance of economic integration between the two neighbouring states.
Nazif said that projects to be carried out Sudan in the coming stage include power generating plants and construction of hospitals, particularly in the southern provinces in addition to more Egyptian schools.
The Premier also said that a branch of Alexandria University and an Egyptian Consulate would be established in the southern city of Juba.
He called for completion of the major projects being implemented by Egypt in Sudan including the Wadi Halfa port, communication networks, power grids and the Gongley canal.
Magdi Radi, the spokesman for the Cabinet, said the meeting also dealt with an ambitious project to cultivate some 300,000 feddans in Sudan.
