Nine killed, Saudi security break into house for gunmen

The Saudi security forces broke into the house where wanted gunmen were hiding following violent clashes and a siege that lasted for three days in al-Hamra quarters in Mubaraka area in Dammam city,in the east of the Kingdom.

One helicopter landed members of the Saudi special forces around the house and preparations were taken to bombard the house by missiles and bombs.

According to preliminary accounts for the Saudi sources, five gunmen and four security men were killed in the Dammam clashes, and news was contradictory over the number of wounded policemen. A statement by the Saudi ministry of the interior stressed that only ten security men were injured, while the sources at the central hospital in Dammam talked about the injuring of 30, many of them are in critical health conditions.

The Saudi ministry of interior confined to confirming that the gunmen of what it calls the "misled group," the name given by government to members of al-Qaida organization. But well-informed sources said that one of the killed persons is Zayed Saad Zayed al-Summari ( 31 year old), the number 3 most-wanted person.

News reports said that the special forces blocked the sources of fire inside the building, and no sounds for gunfire was heard, while remains of burnt bodies were seen at the site.

Ambulances together with civil defense forces were seen in the street where the besieged building is situated. Security sources stressed that several gunmen tried to flee to adjoining houses, but police snipers killed them.
