Al-Qaida kills two British soldiers in Iraq

Two British soldiers were killed in a booby trapped car explosion targeting their vehicle near the city of Basra. The British army said that the explosion took place at the entrance of al-Zubeir town, and no other details were given. By this incident, the number of British soldiers killed in Iraq increased to 95.
In another development, four American soldiers were injured together with three Iraqis in an attack by a booby trapped car targeting their vehicle in al-Sedeyeh quarters to the southwest of Baghdad. The Iraqi security sources, gave no mention to the nature of the casualties.
Moreover, gunmen in Baghdad attacked the headquarters of the ministry of the interior and this resulted in killing two policemen and injuring other five. The sources explained that the gunmen, whose number estimated at 30 persons and in 10 cars, used missile and mortars shelling and machineguns during the attack before they fled.
After these attacks, Al-Qaida organization in Iraq claimed responsibility for the killing of the two British soldiers near Basra.
The organization also claimed responsibility in another statement over an attack which claimed the life of two policemen and injuring other five near the Iraqi ministry of the interior in Baghdad.
In Hait, west of Baghdad, some 11 Iraqis including three soldiers were killed and other 16 injured in a booby trapped car explosion targeting a base for the American forces in the city, and it resulted in killing three gunmen according to a statement for the Iraqi government.
One Iraqi was killed and other 4 injured when one mortar fell on a residential area in al-Khales town north of Baghdad.
