Al-Assad cables condolences to US peer on Katrina hurricane victims
Syria-USA, Local, 9/5/2005
Syria President Bashar al-Assad said on Sunday that "he had received with severe pain and sorrow the news of the hurricane that hit a number of southern US States."
In condolences cable sent to the US President George W. Bush, President al-Assad, expressed hearth-felt commiseration to the US president and people and deep sympathy with the victims' families. He voiced confidence over the US people's ability to overcome this ordeal and its results.
