Ditlive Mehlis in Damascus within days

An official source at the Syrian foreign ministry announced an agreement with Detlev Mehlis, the UN chief investigator on the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafikq al-Hariri, to come to Damascus on Sept 10.

The source which asked to be anonymous said that Mehlis told Damascus that he cannot come before September 9th, and therefore September 10th was set as a date for him to come to Damascus.

The source added that the UN investigator expressed that he is pleased "over Syria's positive reaction" with his mission, and expressed his regret that he could not fulfill Syria's invitation to come in the date set on September 5th or 6th, and then it was agreed on September 10th as a date for that

The UN committee wishes to listen to the former President of the Syrian intelligence in Lebanon Roustoum Ghazaleh and his two main aides in Beirut Muhammad Makhlouf and Jame Jame.

On the other hand, the US Department Of State announced that Washington intends to invest the convening of the UN General Assembly in the mid of September to discuss with several countries including France the situation in Lebanon.
