Nasrullah against pressure on Hariri UN investigation committee
Lebanon, Politics, 9/3/2005

The secretary general of the Lebanese Hizbullah party Sheikh Hassan Nasrullah called for not placing pressures on the work of the UN investigation committee to the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri.

Nasrullah said in a speech on Friday on the occasion of an eulogy held for the victims of the "Imams" bridge incident in Baghdad that results of the investigation will re-draw traits of life in Lebanon. He stressed the need that the results of the investigation will be convincing, stressing that for the accuracy of the investigation there should be no hurry to announce political results.

The UN investigation committee led by judge Detlev Mehlis on Friday listened to the testimony of the Baath party regional secretary in Lebanon, Asem Qanswah, who was the main defendant for the Syrian military presence in Lebanon which ended on April 26th.

One Lebanese source said that Qanswah went voluntarily to the headquarters of the committee in Monteverdi area which overlooks Beirut to give his testimony.
