Bulgaria considers withdral from Iraq; blame for stampede deaths
Iraq-Bulgaria, Local, 9/3/2005

Amid tough security measures, hundreds of the victims of the incident which resulted in the largest single-day human loss in Iraq since the American invasion in 2003, were buried in al-Sader city in Baghdad and in al-Najaf south of Baghdad.

The Interim Iraqi government seeks to contain the consequences of the crisis. In this regard a full judicial investigation was opened and the government indicated the possibility of a ministerial reshuffle. The Iraqi minister of health Abdul Mutallib Muhammad accused his two colleagues, the ministers of the interior and defense, of weak performance during the crisis and asked them to resign.

In the same context, member of the Iraqi parliament Taleb Baha al-Araji called for bringing the two ministers before the parliament to have them resign if poor performance is proved.

In a later development, the Bulgarian prime minister Sergy Stansheve on Friday announced that his government started to prepare for pulling out forces tolling 400 soldiers from Iraq.
