Egypt's relation with Sudan: borders and the opposition
Sudan-Egypt, Politics, 9/2/2005
Egypt, which has vast land borders with Sudan is of special importance because it hosts part of the northern Sudanese opposition which refused so far portions given to it in the new interim parliament and has not decided yet to take part in the next unity government.
Silva Kiir's visit to Egypt came one day after the announcement made by the Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, from the forum of the new interim parliament, that political consultations were completed and thoughts over ( the government) were crystallized where a government will soon be announced.
Al-Bashir promised before a parliament, shared by the national congress and the people's movement (SPLM), but with the absence northern opposition, to solve what have been left of problems in Sudan, including the Darfur crisis.
Al-Bashir also considered that the agreement with the people's movement (SPLM) provides a general framework that can be implemented on all states, especially in regard to sharing wealth and the authority.
