Egyptian trade delegation to attend Arab-Russian Business Council meetings
Egypt-Russia, Economics, 8/31/2005

An Egyptian trade delegation led by head of the Chambers of Commerce General Federation Khaled Abu Ismail, left for Moscow on Tuesday to attend the fourth session of the Arab-Russian business council meetings.

The meetings will kick off in Moscow on Wednesday and will end on September 4. Ways to promote joint production and trade exchange in the various fields will be highlighted as well.

Abu Ismail, who also heads the Arab side of the meetings, said the parties concerned are keen on enhancing trade, economic and investment cooperation.

Several Egyptian companies will take part in the second Russian-Arab exhibition to be held on the sidelines of the event, he added.

For his part, Head of the Arab-Russian business council Ibrahim Kamel said the meetings will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, along with a number of top figures in the Russian industry and business sectors.

The development of economic and trade relations between the Arab states and Russia will be high on the agenda of the meeting, Kamel said.

A number of workshops will be organized on cooperation in the fields of hi-tech, communications, energy, stock exchange, banking, tourism and investment, he added.

The volume of Egyptian-Russian trade exchange doubled in the first half of 2005 to be US $ 370 million, the same value of the whole past year.
