Imprisonment for two leaders of failed coupe in Mauritania eased

The military council in Mauritania ordered ending solitary confinment imprisonment which was imposed on Saleh Wedl Hanan and Rev. Abdul Rahman Weld Mini who are sentenced for life imprisonment.

Weld Hanan is considered the mastermind for the coupe attempts between 2003- 2004 against the former President Mu'aweya Weld al-Taye.

During a visit carried out by Mauritania minister of Justice Mahfouz Weld Beitah to the civil prison, he stressed that the two prisoners should be treated with all respect and to have residence in the jail with their friends. He considered that humanitarian and just treatment for all detainees is the real desire of the authority in Mauritania.

The minister deplored the long detention period used to be practiced in the past.

On the other hand, the Moroccan king made a telephone call with the chairman of the military council for justice and democracy in Mauritania Col. Ala Weld Muhammad `Faal.

The Moroccan news agency said that the talks dealt with bilateral relations between the two states and the regional and international situation.
