Continued killings, raids in Iraq
Iraq, Military, 8/29/2005
Chief of staff of the American joint forces Richard Meyers said last week that reducing the number of the American forces in Iraq is linked to the development of the political operation there. But he also stressed that there will be no huge reduction for these forces.
Meantime, a statement for the American army said on Friday that its warplanes bombarded two buildings alleged to be for al-Qaida organization in Iraq led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Huseibah city in al-Anbar governorate west of Iraq.
Sources from inside the city said that violent clashes were taking place between the American forces and gunmen in the city, and that the American strikes resulted in many casualties in the lines of the gunmen and civilians alike.
On the other hand, sources in the Iraqi police said that several contractors with one of the foreign companies were injured in an attack by one missile shelling in al-Ta'mim quarters in al-Musil targeted a convoy of four propelled three cars. The police added that one of the cars was destroyed in the attack.
This came in a day when some 13 Iraqis were killed including two police and army officers and other 8 were injured in separate attacks in various areas in Baghdad and near al-Nasereyah south of Iraq.
