Ministerial committees prepare for 'good government' in Mauritania

Mauritania Premier Weld Bu Baker inaugurated the works of three ministerial committees formed earlier this month to organize the Interim operation.
One of these committees was assigned to the "series of democratic Transfer." It will be organizing a referendum on the constitution within one year, on July, 2006. General elections will be organized within two years, before August 2007. The two other committees will work on reforming the judiciary and ensure "good government".
Weld Bu Baker said at his speech at the ministerial committee "for the Democratic Transfer" that the task of the committee is reflected in the proposal on necessary measures to ensure the good process of the set elections, programing of steps of the Interim measures, and following it up in consultation with political parties and recognized civil societies.
The three committees which were formed on August 17 aim at preparing for the proper implementation for the interim phase which was declared by the ruling authority in Mauritania. It states to run a general referendum in one year to be followed by legislative and Presidential elections within two years.
