Mauritania asks UN support for elections

The Mauritanian foreign ministry has called on the UN to provide it with technical support for the presidential and parliamentary elections, the President of the Mauritanian government Seidi Muhammad Weld Bu Baker wants to organize in the country within a period not to exceed two years.
In an official statement, the ministry called on the UN to dispatch observers to organize the democratic process and supervise it so as the government to fulfill the promise it took when it assumed authority following a military coupe which toppled the former President Muaaweya Weld al-Taye on the third of this month, August.
