Iraqis have learned little from the past
With the brutal dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, it is hard to see how a new constitution, no matter how bad it is, that it would not be an improvement over the past. But the question should be: is this the best that Iraqis can do?

UN calls on Syria to cooperate on Hariri investigators
Lebanon's President, Emil Lahoud, accused certain Lebanese sides of aiming to use the report of the UN international investigation committee into the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri against what he called internal politics. Lahoud called on the Lebanese not to pre-judge results of the investigation.

UN Security Council 'confident' of cooperation on fate of missing Kuwaitis in Iraq

Both the White House and the State Department expressed support for the Iraq's efforts to draft a constitution. White House official Trent Duffy says the United States is encouraged by the progress the Iraqis are making and is ready to assist them in that effort, while State Department spokesman Sean McCormack notes that all Iraqi groups, Shiite, Sunni, Kurds and others, have been involved in the discussions aimed at resolving outstanding political issues.
