1500 American soldiers to be dispatched to Iraq

The Pentagon announced on Wednesday that US defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld decided to dispatch 1500 extra soldiers to Iraq in order to enhance the forces on the ground during the Iraqi elections.
The Pentagon explained that sending extra soldiers to Iraq came to meet the demands of the leader of the American forces in Iraq Gen. George Casey. Worthy mentioning that 138,000 American soldiers are currently deployed in Iraq.
