Italian newspaper highlights tolerance in Syria
Syria-Italy, Local, 8/25/2005

Italian La Repubblica talked about Syria's religious, civilized and historical role over ages, saying "Syria knew the deeply-rooted Christianity in the Arab culture before being known by the west through Saint Paul who spread Christianity starting from Damascus Road."

In an article published Wednesday, the newspaper underlined the state of coexistence in the city of Damascus which maintains its deeply-rooted features as other Syrian cities, expressing admiration of the Umayyad mosque, the markets, religious and archeological sites.
