Lahoud: Lebanon to fortify internal Front
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 8/25/2005

President Emile Lahoud of Lebanon on Wednesday said that Lebanon and the region are passing through dangerous and crucial conditions, the matter that requires strengthening the internal front and facing foreign plots.

"It is very important to be aware of what is going on, and rise up to the level of this stage, away from internal disputes which obstruct the process of stability and progress," Lahoud added in a statement.

He stressed that he will head a Lebanese official delegation to the United Nations to propose the Lebanese issue with all its dimensions and renew his country's stance vis-a-vis regional issues.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh said that his country gives a big interest to the issue of Lebanese detainees in the Israeli occupation prisons.

Salloukh, during a meeting with a delegation of a Follow-up Committee to Support Lebanese Detainees at the Israeli Prisons, was handed over a written memo to raise the detainees' issue during a speech to the UN General Assembly scheduled in September to immediately release them.

On the other side, the Foreign Affairs Committee at Lebanese Parliament considered that Lebanon is in no need to international resolutions to deploy the army on its lands, underlying that the army is already deployed along wide regions in South Lebanon..

The Committee, said in a statement following a meeting that Lebanese national resistance is legitimate, particularly in light of what has been done by liberating the major parts of South Lebanon.
