Berri: Syria, Lebanon cling to historical ties
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 8/25/2005
Speaker of the Lebanese parliament Nabih Berri on Wednesday said that Lebanon is committed to the historic and geographic relations with Syria who had offered large sacrifices for peace and security in the country.
"Lebanon is passing through a delicate stage that couldn't be neglected in order to change from the 'authority period' to the stage of the 'state and confidence' building in the state," Berri said during a press conference. He added that the Lebanon is in need, in this historical time, for a common denominator to put the ideological bases for a modern Lebanese state.
