Talibani wants to meet Sunni demands for constitution that serves all Iraqis indiscriminately

The Iraqi President Jalal al-Talibani held a meeting with the speaker of the parliament Hajem al- Hussein to discuss the efforts to settle differences over the constitution.
Talibani stressed the need of meeting the demands of the Arab Sunni in the draft constitution, noting that the constitution should be in the service of all Iraqis rather for one group of the Iraqi people.
Talibani said in statements to the press that Iraq's stability will not be attained without consensus among the three components of the Iraqi people." Concerning the pending issues, Talibani stressed there are differences in the view points on mentioning the Baath party in the draft constitution, however, there is a consensus on what he called "disregarding criminal Baathists whose hands bloodied in the bloods of the Iraqi people." He explained that "the extermination law" should take into account the Iraqi capabilities and make a distinction between the Syrian Baath party and Michael Aflaq Baath party ( in remarks to the founder of the Baath Arab Socialist Party Michael Aflaq." He added that the proposed measures will not entitle common people Baathists who were became Baath party members in order to survice and meet their living needs or job recruitments.
Concerning the federalism, Talibani said that the situation in Kurdistan is agreed upon, noting that the government had approved since 1970 self rule in Kurdistan.
Hajem al-Hosni explained that federalism in Kurdistan has passed 15- year old experience, noting that "the Arab Sunnis do not refuse the federalism but prefer steps to adopting it to be gradual. And one by one."
