Iraq wants diplomatic relations with the Arab states
Iraq-Regional, Politics, 8/24/2005

The Iraqi government on Tuesday called on the Arab states to resume full diplomatic relations with Iraq, announcing it will build a protected area for diplomats in order for them to work and live safely.

The Iraqi representative at the Arab League, Raad al-Alousi, told journalists following a meeting with several AL officials that he called for the revitalization of the Arab summit resolution to resume diplomatic relations with Iraq and help Iraq in its current crisis.

Al-Allousi explained that he demands the Arab states "not to hesitate in restoring normal diplomatic relations with Iraq, and to take a strong position deploring all terrorist operations in Iraq." He spoke of a security zone just for embassies and diplomats to be protected by the two ministries of the interior and defense "so as not to have allegations by any one over security concerns."
