Al-Qathafi's son criticizes revolutionary courts, calls Libyans abroad to return home
Libya, Politics, 8/20/2005

Seif Eddine al-Qathafi, the chairman of the Qathafi Foundation For Charity Societies and the elder son of the Libyan leader Muammar al-Qathafi, called for re-opening the files which included human rights violations in Libya, noting that opening such files will open the door for reconciliation in the country.

He called during a reception for introducing his establishment's activities on the need of compensating persons who were harmed by the government and revolutionary courts and what he described the illegal courts.

Al-Qathafi extended an invitation to the Libyans residents abroad, whose sums and properties were confiscated, to return back to their country to win back their rights. He indicated contacts carried out by his establishment with Libyans abroad to find out the reasons behind their existence abroad and to evaluate their situations.

The Libyan foreign media director Jum'a Abu al-Kheir said that al-Qathafi's son statements fall in the course of what he called dealing with conditions in the country "to correct conditions of the Libyan revolutionary march came through in 37 of its life."

He explained in statements to al-Jazeera that dealing with such conditions came in the course of "masses dialogue" and interaction to "maintain justice, equality and human rights." Replying to a question on whether this step came in the course of Libya's reconciliation with the USA, Abu al-Kheir said that the Libyan people do not wait for a certificate of innocence or condemnation from any side for any step it makes, noting that what has been made is an achievement for the Libyan people.
