Lebanese transport minister inspects border operations with Syria

Lebanese Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohammed al-Safadi, yesterday inspected the border crossing points between Syria and Lebanon and examined the works which are being carried out by the Syrian side until the riverbed of al-Kabeer river, and the adopted possible mechanism to launch the work at this point in cooperation and in coordination with the Syrian side.

"There is a failure on the Lebanese side regarding al-Jesser site which is under construction now and we are trying to correct this matter as soon as possible," Al-Safadi said in a statement to journalists.

He pointed out that preparations for holding joint meetings between the two sides in the near future to continue discussing the pending issues, asserting that the Syrian security measures on the border crossing points are for legitimate purposes, implying that these measures are not being done to intentionally delay Lebanese trucks from crossing.
