Dubai re-exports to Iran reach 35 percent of total

"Iran has absorbed 35 percent of Dubai re-exports volume in the first quarter of 2005. The Dubai television said that in the period over $ 2.2 billion of goods were exported to Iran," IRNA reported.
Iran ranked as the primary destination of Dubai exports and its free trade zones. Dubai re-exports to Iran, which have ranked first in re-exports from the emirate in the past 10 years, dropped in the 2004, the Dubai Customs Internet Site reported here Monday.
"Iran's re-exports from Dubai totaled 10.348 billion Dirhams and ranked second after India last year," it said. Textiles, transportation-related equipment, electronic gadgets, fake jewelry, and precious stones are some of re-exports by Dubai, it added.
In 2004, Dubai had over 80 percent of total non-oil foreign trade of United Arab Emirates. The United States with 497,177,000 Dirhams of non-oil imports from Dubai Emirate was ranked second in 2004.
According to unofficial reports, the values of Iran's imports from Dubai were more than $ 4 billion in 2002.
