Al-Azhar: Islam prohibits terrorism

Leaders of Egypt's religious institutions have reiterated Islam's and all other divine religions prohibition of all forms of terrorism.
Meantime, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Mohamed Sayed Tantawi warned against mixing between Jihad, which is endorsed by Islam to defend soul and human dignity on one hand, and "terror" that targets humans and intimidate people.
The symposium was organized by Al- Azhar University on Tuesday under the title "Terror enemy to Islam."
The Grand Imam said that Al-Azhar and its university are keen on showing the moderation and tolerance of Islam.
On his part, Minister of Al Awqaf "religious endowments" Mahmoud Hamdi Zaqzouq called for highlighting the positive values of Islam which show that Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance and cooperation.
Al-Azhar University President Ahmed AL-Tayyib said that Al- Azhar denounces all forms of terror.
