Tunis: ministerial reshuffle include foreign affairs, defense
Tunisia, Politics, 8/18/2005

A Tunisian official source said that the Tunisian President Zine al-Abidin Ben Ali on Wednesday made a partial ministerial reshuffle targeting in particular the foreign ministry and the defense ministry.

The advisor for the Tunisian President, Abdul Wahab Abdullah, was appointed as a foreign minister in succession of Abdul Haq al-Hermasi, and Kamal Murjan was appointed national defense minister. His predecessor al-Hadi al-Mahni assumed other missions. Six ministerial posts were not changed. Three new representation ministers were appointed.

The last ministerial reshuffle in Tunis goes back to October 2004, two weeks after re-electing Ben Ali for a five year fourth term of office.

Ali al-Shawesh was appointed as a minister for social affairs and solidarity, al-Sadeq al-Qurabi a minister of education and formation; Rafe Dakhik as a designated minister for communications and relations with the parliament and the council of advisors; al-Tayeb al-Hizri as a minister for scientific research and technology and Profession promotion; Omar al-Abed state secretary at the ministry of education, Salim al- Talatli as a state secretary for the ministry of tourism and Abdul Razzaq Daloul as a state secretary at the ministry of peasantry and water resources in charge of fishing affairs.
