Forum on combating child labor in Syria

Activities of the National Forum on the Role of Labour Administration in Combating Child Labour, organized by the Syrian Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in cooperating with the Arab Center for Business Management and Employment concluded in Damascus on Wednesday.

Recommendations of the three-day symposium stressed importance of activating role of business management, particularly the inspection commission on protecting children and to set up an integrated and comprehensive strategy in cooperation with the three-way production process, especially Ministries of Justice, Education, Interior, Information and Culture and the General Commission for Family Affairs to Combat the phenomena of child labor.

The recommendations also underlined the necessity of coordination among all the parties concerned to protect children by coordinating the role of the Supreme Committee for Children, doing suitable studies and research to get acquainted with the phenomena of child labor and monitoring its development.

The suggestions pointed out to the importance of the media in warning against dangers of child labor and raising awareness of children rights on all levels, in addition to dealing with reasons of dropouts by schoolchildren.
