New political party licensed in Mauritania

The Mauritanian ministry of the interior issued a permit to lisence the Democratic Forum ( Hizb al-Multaqa al-Demoqrati) led by Sheikh al-Mukhtar Weld Hurma after its file was submitted for official endorsement.

The former regime in Mauritania had refused to recognize this party and even the Mauritanian ministry of the interior at the time refused to receive its representative and accept the application filing.

The chairman of the said party's council Weld Muhammad Mousa said that the former regime had feared the party because it enjoys vast people's base which is not limited to Islamists and racially-black citizens, rather extends to cover independents.
