al-Baath daily: Camels care center in Palmyra

Rector of al-Baath University, Amer Fakhouri, has laid the cornerstone for the Camels Care Center in the Syrian central ancient city of Palmyra in cooperation with the Project of Animal Protection SPANA, the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) and the British Helen Worthly, al-Baath daily said Tuesday.
The British Ambassador in Damascus Peter Ford and Mrs. Worthly participated in the laying of the cornerstone, the paper added.
Ford underscored the importance of this project in strengthening cultural relations between Syria and Britain.
Director of SPANA Project, Darem Tabaa, explained in details the importance of the project and its targets. For his part, Fakhouri stressed the importance of the center in presenting medical expertise and services for the care of camels.
The project aimed at improving the economic and social conditions of the Bedouins (nomads), supporting camel breeding, and encouraging tourism in the Syria Badia desert.
