Symposium on renowned Syrian poet Badawi al-Jabal

A 3-day Arab symposium on the great Syrian poet Badawi al-Jabal held by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with Saudi Abdulaziz Saud al-Babtin Establishment For Poetry Creativity was opened Tuesday with the participation of critics and intellectuals from Syria and other Arab states.
Minister of Culture, Mahmoud al-Sayid, said "Badawi al-Jabal's poetry is eternal since he was the spokesman for the history" and the world 25 years ago, asserting that his poetry was based on the belief that poetry should defend humanity in this world.
Presentations were made in which the connection between al-Jabal's poetry and the ongoing events in the country at that time, asserting that he represented his country's sufferings over that period.
The Saudi establishment held last year a similar symposium in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture on the life of the great Syrian poet Omar Abu Rishah as part of its support to poetry creativity.
