Two Lebanese parties stress need for national unity

Leaderships of the Hizbullah Party and Amal Movement in south Lebanon underlined the importance of national unity to face plots aiming at dominating the Middle East.

"This situation calls for more unity to foil the enemy's projects which attempt to destabilize internal situation and push the country to the unknown," the two parties said in a joint statement following a meeting in the southern town of Nabatieh.

The statement added that Lebanon who had offered great sacrifices throughout its long struggle with the Israeli enemy that can't be converted into "a political contracting company" to cover foreign plots. Both parties said the Israeli defeat in Gaza Strip is a brilliant achievement in the Palestinian resistance movement.

Meanwhile, Lebanese parties, national organizations and Palestinian factions in South Lebanon underlined that the UN Security Council resolution 1614 is part of a series of pressures that aim at intervening in the Lebanese internal affairs.

"Everybody is called on to work under the national umbrella away from any foreign dependency," the parties said in a statement following a meeting in southern city of Sidon.
