Six American soldiers were killed in Iraq

The US army said six of its soldiers were killed during the 24 past hours in a series of attacks which hit Baghdad and other parts of Iraq and also targeted the Iraqi security forces.

The American army admitted the killing of four of its soldiers and injuring other 6 in an attack which targeted on Wednesday their vehicle in al-Mazra' area near Beiji.

On its site on the internet al-Qaida organization in Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack which was carried out by blowing up one bomb followed by the gunmen firing at the vehicles and the American soldiers.

One American soldier was also killed in clashes with gunmen near al-Habaneyah northwest of Baghdad while the 6th soldier was killed in a booby trapped car explosion in Baghdad on Tuesday.
