Al-Jazeera: Released Saudi reformer will not be silent
Saudi Arabia-Libya, Politics, 8/10/2005

The recent Saudi Arabia's royal pardon to some imprisoned reformers included Islamic activist, the professor for media at Imam Saeed university Bi Zaer who was sentenced to five year imprisonment over encouraging terrorism.

However, though he welcomed this step which came "thanks first to God Almighty, and then to King Abdullah," he stressed in an interview with al-Jazeera TV on Tuesday that this does not mean he will remain silence about "speaking out on rightful issues which should be said at every time and place. A right that has heavy implications that man should bear."

In addition to the five Saudi reformers, the pardon covered Libyans accused of attempting to assassinate King Abdullah in 2003 when he was a crown prince.

The pardon came following the visit carried out to the Kingdom by a Libyan envoy who offered condolences on the death of King Fahd.

The assassination attempt which was denied by Libya strongly, resulted in great tension in the relations between the two states, and pushed the Saudi authorities to expel the Libyan ambassador in December.
