Abu al-Einein: Lebanese restrictions on camps to be eased
Lebanon-Palestine, Politics, 8/9/2005

The secretary of the Palestinian Fatah movement in Lebanon, Sultan Abu al-Einein, deliberately denied the existence of cells for al-Qaida organization in the Palestinian Ein al-Helweh camp.

The Palestinian official said that the tough measures introduced by the Lebanese authorities on the Palestinian camps recently are on their way to be eased.

The official in the Fatah movement, the largest group of the PLO, considered that the weapons that exist in the Palestinian camps are a guarantee for the Palestinian refugees against likely Israeli aggressions, criticizing the UN resolution 1559 concerning this matter without announcing rejection to it.

Concerning the issue of settling the Palestinians in Lebanon, Abu al-Einein ( 53 years old) living in al-Rshedeyah camp in southern Lebanon, stressed the rejection of the Palestinian people to these efforts, and insisted on cling to the Palestinian identity and their right to return back to their homes in Palestine according to UN resolution 194.

He considered that the death penalty sentence against him by the Lebanese judiciary is a political sentence and is not based on criminal evidences. Five years ago, the Lebanese judiciary sentenced Abu al-Einein to death in absentia over accusation of buying weapons and financing terrorist organizations, as well as carrying out assassination operations in Lebanon.
