Investigation starts into Garang's death

The Sudanese Presidency announced the formation of the investigation committee that will look into the cause of the crash of the Ugandan plane which crashed while carrying Sudan's vice president John Garang and his aides.

The committee is being led by the politician from southern Sudan, Abeel Aleer, in his being a national figure. The committee has three government figures: lt. gen. Haj al-Khuder Ahmad Wed, Shambiuyl Adlan and Siraj Eddine Hamid. From the People's Movement (SPLM), the committee includes Jeer Shawaniq Jeer, Diniq Teeil and Aleoi Aeiq.

Meantime, US experts who will take part in the investigations arrived in the Kenyan capital Nairobi before they left for southern Sudan to help the aforementioned committee.

President Bashir issued a decision to form another committee regarding the acts of violence which followed the announcement of the death of John Garang, violence that claimed the life of more than 130 persons.

The committee is chaired by the national defense minister Bakri Hassan Saleh. It includes the minister of energy Awad Ahmad al-Jaz, the minister for cabinet affairs Kamal Abdul Latif, the director general for the national security and intelligence and the minister of state at the ministry of the interior and the ministry of justice secretary.
