Syrian mosque preachers-course to improve religious discourse
Syria, Religion, 8/9/2005
The second course, organized by the Syrian Ministry of Islamic Trusts ( Waqf) for mosque preachers, on renovation and improvement of the religious discourse was concluded Monday in Damascus.
Several recommendations were adopted in the course, most of which looked at a preacher as a pivotal element in positively developing and advancing the society, and a means for increasing public awareness that would emerge from the "sound principles of the living Islam and its encouragement for amity, cooperation and goodwill."
The course included several important topics, including the character of the preachers, the credibility of the religious discourse, basics of that discourse and the approach of Prophet Mohammad to education.
