Palestinian FM: Israeli withdrawal from Gaza is not the end of occupation
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 8/8/2005
The Palestinian Foreign minister Naser al-Qidwa considered that the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces and settlers from Gaza "does not mean the end of occupation," warning that Israel aims to "distract" for not living up to implementing the Roadmap peace plan.
He explained "we cannot talk about sovereignty after this withdrawal.. There will be an Israeli control of an important part of the life of our people in Gaza. There will not be any Palestinian supremacy (over Gaza), because supremacy requires control of airspace and the outer borders with the world and territorial waters, and without that, there will be no supremacy and therefore there is no supremacy now."
