Arab league calls to protect holy places in occupied jerusalem
Regional-Palestine, Politics, 8/8/2005
The Arab League ( AL ) on Sunday appealed to the international community, the United Nations and the so-called Quartet Committee to assume responsibility and protect al-Aqsa mosque and other Islamic and Christian holy places from the Israeli plots to judaize Jerusalem and isolate it from other Palestinian cities.
AL underlined in a statement on the 35th anniversary of the Israeli attempt to burn al-Aqsa mosque that the Israeli practices are a flagrant violation of the international law and legitimacy which consider Jerusalem as an occupied city and the occupation authority has no right to change the city's civilized and historical features.
It warned against dangers of the international community disregard of Israeli settlement and expansion policies at the expense of efforts exerted to reach peace and stability in the region.
