Iran rejects European group on nuclear activities proposal
Iran-European Union, Politics, 8/6/2005

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said today Iran will not accept the Europeans' proposed package on nuclear dossier. Asefi told IRNA on the sidelines of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's swearing-in ceremony.

He said, "The Europeans' proposal lacks the criteria enshrining Iran's interests and runs counter to the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) spirit and the Paris agreement.

"We will give complete answer to the Europe's proposed package today or tomorrow but it should be mentioned that Europe has not fulfilled its duties and promises," IRNA reported him saying.

The report quoted him saying the proposal is not acceptable because the enrichment issue has not been included in it, saying "We have already announced any proposal set forth should enshrine Iran's enrichment right.
