Lebanon, Syria need to boost economic ties

Chairman of Beirut Commerce and Industry Chamber, Adnan Qassar, on Wednesday underlined the importance of building distinguished relations with Syria.

"The most important thing is establishing basis of cooperation between Lebanon and Syria who are linked by historical, friendly and good relations," Qassar said during a meeting between Lebanese Premier Fouad Siniora and a delegation of economic societies.

He added that consultations between officials from the two states are underway to hold meetings to facilitate business between both businessmen.

Meanwhile, former Lebanese ministers and MPs stressed that the relation which tied Lebanon with Syria throughout history was "strategic and decisive, " adding that it shouldn't be affected by regional or international developments.

The former ministers and MPs, meeting in Beirut, underlined the significance of relations between the two states based the two peoples' will and interests.
