Syria-Turkey, Local, 8/3/2005
Security forces in northwest Syria foiled on Tuesday an attempt to smuggle a large amount of money from Syria to Turkey.
Secretary of Bab al-Hawa border customs in Idleb province, Mohammad Hassan Abu Zeid, said "members of the customs suspected one of the travelers in a Turkish car, who had SP 5,600,000 in a socket strapped to his belly and legs." The money was handed to the Central Bank of Syria in Idleb, while the smuggler was taken to the Attorney General in the governorate.
